This policy applies to all operations, employees, contractors, and stakeholders associated with Henson Franklyn.

2. Environmental Commitments & alignment to UN SDGs
This Sustainability Policy is aligned with the relevant United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supports global and UK efforts to promote responsible economic growth, environmental stewardship, and social wellbeing. Our approach integrates the SDGs most relevant to our UK operations, supply chains, and stakeholders, and is consistent with applicable UK legislation and best practice.

We commit to the following environmental principles:

a. Compliance

• Comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and other requirements relevant to our activities and locations.
• Regularly review and update our policy to reflect changes in legal requirements and best practices.

b. Pollution Prevention and Waste Reduction

• Prevent pollution and reduce waste through responsible resource management and operational efficiency
• Reduce, reuse, and recycle materials whenever possible, especially in packaging and production processes.
• Minimise hazardous waste generation and ensure its safe handling and disposal.

c. Energy and Emissions Management

• Improve energy efficiency in our operations and strive to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
• Promote the use of renewable energy where possible.
• Endeavour to improve upon annual carbon reduction and aim to be net zero by at least 2050.

d. Sustainable Resource Use

• Promote the use of sustainably sourced materials, including certified recycled or recyclable content.
• Reduce water consumption and prevent water pollution.
• Choose suppliers and partners who demonstrate environmental responsibility.

e. Continuous Improvement

• Regularly monitor, measure, and report our environmental performance.
• Set measurable environmental objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Engage in annual environmental audits and sustainability reviews.

3. Employee Engagement and Inclusive Culture and Stakeholder Engagement

• Promote a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace to inform employees about their environmental responsibilities and encourage participation in sustainability initiatives.
• Foster a culture of environmental awareness and innovation.
• Communicate our environmental commitments and progress transparently to stakeholders, including customers and suppliers.

4. Sustainable Procurement

• Work with suppliers who meet or exceed our environmental standards.
• Integrate environmental criteria into supplier selection and evaluation.

5. Governance and Responsibility

• The Managing Director has overall responsibility for implementing this policy.
• Sustainability Co-ordinator and line managers are responsible for ensuring environmental practices are embedded in daily operations.
• Progress is reported to senior leadership on a monthly basis.
